My Non-Blog

9/18.09 The school year is in full swing and I'm having a great time with all the seniors coming in. Fall will soon be upon us officially and it;s time to book your fall family portrait session.  I'm amazed at how fast the leaves are turning this year.

September 13th I was elected Secretary of HOAPPA, a regional three state photographer's association.  I am also serving as the print chairperson for the 2010 Regional Affiliated Judging to be held at the KCI Center in April.

5/30/09 It's Senior Portrait Time!

Time to book your portrait session. I just posted my 2010 Senior Price list and am ready to answer all your questions.  The Second week of June I attended the Kansas Professional Photographers School at Bethel College, Newton, KS.  I learned so new styles and have some new techniques for this year.

Soon the school year will end and summer will be upon us.  Where do the days go?  I'm looking for 5 2010 seniors to photograph and use in my mailings.  Call me for details.  My Senior price list for the seniors of 2010 will soon be posted.  Call early for your best time.

Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year to all.

It's November and yearbook deadlines are approaching.  If you haven't selected yours yet do it now so I can get it to the school in time! It takes at least a week to get the prints back for the annual, and that's only if there are no glitches.

Fall colors have fallen quickly. My trees hadn't lost many leaves until Saturday the 1st,  and now on Monday they are almost bare.  There are a few accessible spots left but they will be gone very soon. If you were thinking about outdoor family portraits this year,  I hope you are thinking snow!

July 2008 and It's senior portrait time again!  I am already booking into August.  It's been a short summer so far.  Soon the fall sports programs will commence and we're headlong into another school year.

June 2008 I was appointed the Print Chairman for the HOAPPA 2009 Conference that will be held March 26-April 1 2009.

June 2008 I have limited the number of weddings I will photograph to 10 per year.

I officially locked the doors on the old location for the last time at 4:30 on January 14th.  It has been a long 4 weeks moving.  25+ years of my stuff and another 17 years worth of Don Bartelt's  If anyone needs some 42 year old dust I can find some for you. Although the Bartelt Studio name is finally completely detached from mine, I've been trying for 15 years,  I'm sure it will still be associated with me, just as Lumbard Leschinsky's is even though that studio closed in 1984.

June 2007 I completed a three days instruction on using Painter X at the Kansas Professional Photographer's School.  Using this technique I will be able to further enhance my photographic art and achieve a new artistic level in my portraiture.

April 2007, I was presented with the Professional Photographers of Nebraska Diamond Service Degree.  This fellowship award is earned for service to the organization.

I was also sworn in as a member of the Board of Directors for the Heart of America regional association.  The HOAPPA is a regional affiliate of the Professional Photographers of America, now comprised of  the states of Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.  My first duties will be as co-chairperson of the Photographic print exhibition in April 2008.

I have been the owner of  Portraits by Terry,  formerly the Don Bartelt Studio, since 1982.

I was the manager of another Grand Island studio, the Lumbard Leschinsky Studio, for 12 years prior to purchasing Bartelt’s. I actually worked there  for over 15 years.

In April 2005 I was presented the Professional Photographers of America National Award.  This award was selected and presented by my peers for service to the photography industry.

I have been a member of the Professional Photographers of Nebraska since 1968 and served on the board of directors from 1988 to 1997. I was elected president in 1995-96 and currently hold the Diamond Service Degree in the Professional Photographers of Nebraska Fellowship program.

A member of the Professional Photographers of America since 1969, I have been Grand Island’s only PPA Certified photographer since 1982.

In January 2005 I earned the Craftsman Photographer Degree
from the Professional Photographers of America.

I have presented, as a platform speaker and instructor, at numerous PPA Heart of America regional conferences and PPofN state conferences.  January  2007 I conducted a class on Basic Studio Skills, for beginning photographers, at the PPofN Winter Conference held in Grand Island.  Recent past participation was as a member of the print exhibition crew at the 2006 Heart of America Conference held in Omaha. I also presented the PP of A National Award for Nebraska to the 2006 recipient Donnis Heftle-Bullock, from Cozad, and assisted in presenting  the 2007 National Award to Tom Sterba of Omaha.
